Why Settlement Truth
exists.
How we do the data.
Every submission is self-reported.
Submitters are verified humans with accounts. The numbers are what they tell us. We label this clearly on every page that shows aggregated data.
Every submission is moderated.
No user-submitted content is public until an admin reviews it for PII, defamation risk, and numeric sanity. Expected moderation window: 1–3 days.
Rankings require N ≥ 10.
We do not surface any ranking or comparison with fewer than 10 submissions in the relevant category. Every number carries its sample size.
No individual lawyers, doctors, or chiropractors named.
Insurance companies — public, regulated entities — are fair game when backed by user-submitted data. Individual professionals are not.
State statutory data is researched, not attorney-reviewed.
Minimum BI limits, fault systems, comparative negligence rules, and statutes of limitations were verified against primary sources (state insurance departments, state codes, Cornell LII) as of 2026-04-24. Source citations are on every state detail page. Always confirm with a licensed attorney in the state before relying on any value.
What we don't do.
- notWe are not a lawyer directory. We do not recommend attorneys, rank them, or refer cases.
- notWe do not give legal advice. Every page with guidance is labeled clearly — consult a licensed attorney.
- notWe do not sell your data. Submitter emails are never public. Journalist contact is opt-in.
- notWe are not a complaint board. No naming of individual professionals. No adjectives — just data.
